Today was little more laid back as many of the shops are closed and the rain has started to fall. Regardless of that, we headed towards the Rialto to the highly recommended Enoteca al Volto for lunch. Meals in Italy are like some huge production and can last for a couple hours as you sip wine, enjoy the meal, have a little cafe late and wait for a check. Too bad life can't always be at this speed. As the rains continued throughout the day, I noticed more and more elevated walkways were being placed in the streets. I'll have to go for a walk tonight at ten as that is when they project the flooding to be the worst this week. This is a sinking city and if you pay attention to the picture of the arch, you can see that it use to be a walkway but now is part of a wall. Traveling with Nancy is like traveling with a tour guide. She also took me to a tapestry shop where the fabrics are hand made on these huge looms and cost about.....Yes my sewing friends....over $500 per yard!!!! Choke choke. I can't afford a pillow let alone the drapes, but the fabrics were beautiful!!! Very Venice!!
We ended the day in our usual place, this time with Kelum who whipped up a little sandwich for us as a late night snack even though the kitchen was closed on Sunday evenings.
